Sydney plans twilight Chinese New Year paradePeople taking flights to Sydney could arrive in the city just in time to catch some of the amazing Chinese New Year celebrations taking place in the city.

Among the brilliant sights that can be seen this year include a stunning fire dragon performance that will be held as part of the Twilight Parade.

An 18-metre long red and gold dragon will take centre stage in the celebrations as it is paraded around the streets.

It will be showered with fireworks at both the beginning and the end of the parade, creating a spectacle that is sure to be a sight to behold for all who attend the festivities.

"With the throb of percussion and over 2,900 performers from Sydney and around the world dressed in dazzling costumes and on amazingly decorated floats, the parade will be truly spectacular," said lord mayor Clover Moore.

The city is gearing up for a range of celebrations at the present time, with people on flights to Sydney also able to attend the Australia Day celebrations which are held every year on January 26th.
