The number of people planning to attend Sydney Mardi Gras could see an increase as Kylie is now performing at the event.

Kylie to perform at Sydney Mardi GrasPeople taking flights to Sydney could now be planning to attend the city's Mardi Gras event after Kylie Minogue announced she would be performing.

The singer, who is celebrating 25 years in the music industry this year, has announced she will be performing at the gay pride event in the city on March 3rd.

Kylie will be taking part in the parade by performing from a special float and will be guest of honour.

It is 14 years since she last performed there and in a statement she expressed her delight at returning to play at the festival.

''I am coming home for Mardi Gras this year! I simply cannot wait, and it's going to be a beautiful way to celebrate 25 years of this relationship," the chart-topping star said.

There are a range of fun events taking place for people on flights to Sydney to enjoy, with its Chinese New Year events to be hosted this weekend.
