Dubai passengers to travel in stylePassengers travelling first-class on flights to Dubai will soon be able to do so in style after airline Emirates announced it has taken delivery of the first of 50 Airbus A380s.

The double-decker planes will feature an upstairs bar, as well as two bathrooms complete with showers.

They will also have a luxury lounge for cruising at altitude as an alternative to its traditional seating arrangements.

Emirates president Tim Clark said the planes will economise with weight in other areas in order to compensate for the extra 500 kg of water needed on board.

"At the moment we have 1.8 kg in each seat pocket," he pointed out, adding that this could be reduced by featuring duty-free items on the retail TV channel.

Airbus hopes to be producing four A380s a month in three years.

Earlier this month, Dubai International Airport said the number of people arriving on flights to Dubai so far in 2008 had increased by 13.8 per cent upon last year's figures.
