People heading out on flights to Dubai are to have their experience made easier with the opening of a new terminal.

According to the Australian Business News, the £2 billion hub will be opened gradually from October to December this year and will be dedicated to Emirates flights.

A rapid increase in passenger numbers to Dubai has meant that the existing facilities had become overcrowded, particularly at peak times.

However, the new concourse will provide 180 more check-in counters, as well as room for more flights, meaning that the experience should become more enjoyable and relaxed.

Commenting on the gradual implementation, Emirates president Tim Clark said: "We want to make sure everything works. We had dummy flights and put things into the transfer system, so people were replicating as best we could the terminal under load.

"We've done that twice now and so far so good."

According to figures released lat month by Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing, of the one million visitors to Dubai from the UK last year, two-thirds say they plan to return soon, reports the Financial Times.Meet the editors...
