British people are still booking their yearly holidays, even if it means waiting for late deals and cutting down on weekend trips, it has been claimed.

British people are still booking their yearly holidays, even if it means waiting for late deals and cutting down on weekend trips, it has been claimed.

This is according to Tom Hall, editor of the Lonely Planet travel guides, who said that savvy travellers are still able to find good prices, especially if they book destinations outside the eurozone.

"There are signs that the late bookings market is strong; I think people see holidays as a non-negotiable thing.

"I think people are increasingly aware that if you want real value … you need to get outside of the eurozone and that can mean mid-haul or long-haul," he commented.

Figures from the Association of European Airlines for June showed that passenger numbers have continued to increase for the south Atlantic and the Middle East, with growth of 10.3 per cent and 6.9 per cent respectively.

Anyone looking for such holidays could consider booking flights to Dubai - an increasingly popular destination for Britons - with Emirates.
