Book holidays in advance to cut cost of breaksPeople wanting to save money on their holidays should look ahead in a bid to cut costs, one expert has said.

Ian Bradley, spokesperson for the Association of Independent Tour Operators, said this could be especially good advice for families who are limited to taking breaks during school holidays.

"Plan well in advance if you can, don't leave it as late as possible … If you are thinking of going on holiday next year start thinking about it now," he commented.

Mr Bradley added that this could allow people to get early booking discounts, as well as giving them time to save.

Earlier this month, Elizabeth Young, editor of family holiday guide Travel for Kids, said that cheap flights can provide a welcome alternative to hitting the British motorways.

Figures from the Association of European Airlines for June showed that passenger numbers have continued to increase for the south Atlantic and the Middle East, with growth of 10.3 per cent and 6.9 per cent respectively.

Anyone looking for such holidays could consider booking flights to Dubai - an increasingly popular destination for Britons - with Emirates.
