Holidaymakers follow celebrities to hotspotsHolidaymakers are increasingly seeking to follow in the footsteps of their favourite celebrities when it comes to choosing destinations for breaks, according to one company.

Cater Allen Private Bank found that more than a third of people booking holidays have been influenced by the destination's publicity as being popular with celebrities, with Dubai and St Tropez proving attractive as a result.

It was also found that one in five people spends more than £2,500 on holidays every year, perhaps due to following celebrities being an expensive pastime.

Some 46 per cent said they think their choice of holiday destination reflects on how people perceive them.

Anyone wishing to go on a celebrity-spotting break could book flights to Dubai, where David Beckham, Frank Lampard and Michael Owen all have properties.

The Rooneys have also been spotted in the city, while it is rumoured that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes may be about to hold a star-studded New Year's party there.Meet the editors...
