Dubai hotel wins prestigious awardOne of Dubai's most luxurious hotel resorts has won an award from the readers of Conde Nast Traveler magazine.

Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa scooped a gong for being one of the best hotels in the Middle East, Africa and Indian Ocean region, moving up six places from its 2007 rankings in the same awards.

Tony Williams, senior vice-president of Emirates Hotels and Resorts, said: "This is a great tribute to the staff of Al Maha and we are obviously delighted to have received such a great accolade, in particular when it comes from the guests."

Earlier this month, it was reported by Travel Mole that the Emirate city is on target to achieve 15 million visitors by 2010, according to Ian Scott, director of the Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing representative office in the UK and Ireland.

This was attributed to the development of a number of luxury hotels and other buildings in Dubai, as well as the expansion of its airport.
