2008 'Dubai's best year yet'

More tourists than ever have visited Dubai this year thanks to its range of new attractions and reputation for luxury.

More tourists than ever have visited Dubai this year thanks to its range of new attractions and reputation for luxury.

This is according to Ian Scott, spokesperson for the government of Dubai's department of tourism and commerce marketing, who said he is unsurprised by the continuing increase in visitor numbers.

"A range of luxury brands are showcased to a diverse audience. With each new project unveiled, interest and investment in Dubai continues to grow," he commented.

Mr Scott pointed out that big-name brands continue to express an interest in Dubai, with the world’s first Armani hotel and projects by Brad Pitt, Versace, Boris Becker, Elie Saab and Donald Trump all set to open in the Emirates city soon.

In addition, celebrity chefs such as Gordon Ramsay and Gary Rhodes have restaurants in Dubai, which tourists are keen to visit.

Last month, officials in Dubai unveiled plans to build a skyscraper over a kilometre high in the heart of the city.

The as-yet unnamed tower will be situated in the Nakheel port and harbour complex and will have over 200 floors, making it the tallest building in the world.Meet the editors...
