Dubai gets ready for QE2s arrivalDubai is gearing up for the arrival of the QE2 today (November 26th), which is to become a hotel in the Emirate city.

The famous cruise liner is to be welcomed by a grand flypast of aircraft, while a flotilla of royal ships will greet her as she approaches the gulf.

Manfred Ursprunger, chief executive of QE2 enterprises at Nakheel Hotels, said throngs of people are expected to turn out to witness the ship's arrival, which is set to take place between 16:00 and 17:00 local time.

"The arrival of QE2 in Dubai will be a proud moment for Nakheel and one that will form part of the ship's rich history," he commented.

After today, the ship is to be refurbished and prepared before being docked permanently on the man-made island of Palm Jumeirah to become a floating hotel.

QE2 has sailed around the world 25 times and has crossed the Atlantic over 800 times, during which she has carried more than 2.5 million passengers.
