In what may be good news for shopaholics heading on holidays to Dubai, 100 new stores have opened at the Dubai Mall since it was officially unveiled on November 4th.

According to Property Wire, the new outlets include Manolo Blahnik, Coach and Diesel.

It is hoped that the majority of the shopping centre's 1,200 shops will be up and running by early next year.

General manager of the Dubai Mall Yousif Al Ali said: The opening of the mall has energised the retail sector in the region. The continual opening of new stores gives visitors a wider choice to complement the upcoming festive season sales."

The mall is the biggest shopping centre in the world's history and will eventually house 160 food and drinks outlets, 220 gold stores, an organic food market, a Gold Souk, an Olympic-sized ice rink and a fashion catwalk atrium.

Upon its opening, Mohamed Ali Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties which owns the mall, said he expects it to address a catchment area of over two billion people.
