Companies are still sending their employees abroad on business travel, despite the credit crunch, it has been found.

Companies are still sending their employees abroad on business travel, despite the credit crunch, it has been found.

However, according to HRG, they are now sending them on shorter trips in order to maximise efficiency and cut down on costs, with the average stay during 2008 lasting 1.5 nights, compared to 1.9 nights the previous year.

The company's director global of hotel relations Margaret Bowler said that businesses are also coming up with other ways to economise.

"[Many are] opting for lower star ratings than previously to minimise expenditure and ensure maximum value for their spend," she pointed out.

The firm also said that a number of hotels are currently offering corporate rates to encourage businesses to travel there.

In news that may be of interest to people sending employees on flights to Dubai, the price of a room in the city was found to have declined by two per cent on average last year, to £182.94.

Emirates Airlines offers a number of flights to Dubai from the UK.
