Respect Dubais customs to have an authentic experiencePeople who want to meet locals and experience an authentic taste of life on holidays to Dubai should make sure they dress appropriately and respect the fact that it is an Islamic country.

Lara Dunston, DK Eyewitness, offered British tourists this advice, pointing out that although Dubai is one of the most tolerant Islamic places in the world, it still has codes of conduct that Britons should adhere to.

She said that people should dress modestly, covering up where possible in loose fitting linen and avoiding halterneck tops, tight clothing and short skirts.

"If you want to meet locals then you'll have a better chance if you dress respectfully," Ms Dunston pointed out.

A number of new attractions are opening soon which may be of interest to people on holidays to Dubai, the department of tourism and commerce marketing has said.

This includes the Dubai fountain at the Burj Dubai Lake in September, as well as a Holiday Express Inn within the Al Garhoud district.
