Flights to Dubai are still popularFlights to Dubai and other destinations in the Middle East are remaining popular, despite the credit crunch and declines in other regions.

This is according to research from data and analytics firm OAG, which showed that air travel to the Middle East is up 12 per cent when compared with 2008, while capacity has also increased.

David Beckerman, vice-president for market intelligence at the firm, said: "The Middle East is attracting a lot of interest as a business hub as well as a holiday destination."

He added that delivery of large aircraft such as the A380s are enabling more people to access places like Dubai than ever.

In related news, according to a study carried out by American Express, international air travel on economy class increased by 13 per cent in the first quarter of 2009, accounting for 56 per cent of all travel by air.

This could mean that people are opting for cheaper flights in order to save money for the rest of their holiday.Meet the editors...
