Dubai underwater hotel to open this monthThe world's first underwater hotel will open in Dubai later this month, reports have suggested.

Located close to Jumeirah Beach, the £300 million Hydropolis Undersea Resort is equivalent in size to Hyde Park in London and boasts 220 suites, according to news site Mena Report.

It is situated about 60ft underwater and guests on holidays to Dubai can expect to spend about $5,000 (£3,069) a night for the privilege of staying in the unique hotel, it claims.

An automatic train will ferry passengers from the beach to the hotel and the structure will partially break the surface of the water where domes covering the concert hall and ballroom extend into the sky.

Crescent-Hydropolis, the company behind the project, plans to build more underwater hotels around the world, with nine other countries thought to be interested, hotel designer Joachim Hauser told designbuild-network.com.

"We are expecting around 3,000 visitors a day [in Dubai] in addition to the hotel guests. The aim is to inspire people to develop a new awareness of the sea," he remarked.ADNFCR-1809-ID-19223675-ADNFCR
