Bank holiday travellers urged to get coveredWith the bank holiday travel rush almost upon us, Brits catching a flight to Dubai and other destinations are being encouraged to make sure they have a travel insurance policy.

Research carried out by Lloyds TSB found that ten per cent of people had admitted to travelling in the past without taking out any insurance on their holidays to Dubai, South Africa and other locations.

Of those who do not cover themselves, 54 per cent said it was just because it had not occurred to them and 25 per cent admitted to just forgetting.

"Sometimes our holidays aren't as relaxing as we hope they will be and it's then that a decision not to take out travel cover could come back to haunt us," explained Catherine McGrath, head of current accounts at Lloyds TSB.

InsureandGo noted earlier in the year that 236,000 incidents occurred to Brits in 2008 that could have been covered by a travel insurance policy but were not.

Costs for these events totalled almost £90 million. Meet the editors...
