Emirates announces partnership with Virgin BlueMiddle-East airline Emirates has announced the details of a landmark partnership as it prepares to enter into a code sharing agreement with Virgin Blue.

In what marks its first such deal with an Australian carrier, Emirates and Virgin Blue's new international airline V Australia will begin sharing codes from October 25th on the trans-Tasman service.

As part of the contract, V Australia will market the seats, which will be sold under both Emirates code EK and the former company's symbol, VA.

Richard Jewsbury, senior vice-president of commercial operations Far East and Australasia noted: said: "Emirates is prudent when it comes to choosing code share partners and our decision to join hands with V Australia is a further demonstration of our commitment to the Australian aviation industry."

This is not the first time Emirates has branched out into Australia of late.

It announced last week that it would collaborate with the country's tourist board in order to encourage Brits to book cheap flights to Australia.
