Dubai retailers urged to accept returns Retailers operating in Dubai have been urged to accept returns from customers who are not happy with their purchases - something that many in the region refrain from doing.

A campaign will be launched by the department of economic development (DED) to draw attention to the issue and remind sellers in the emirate that they have a duty to accept returns from customers and those taking cheap holidays in Dubai.

Mohammad Hilal Al Muroushedi, chief executive of commercial compliance and the consumer protection division of the DED, said that it is integral that shoppers in Dubai receive the best quality service "in order to ensure satisfaction and loyalty".

"The DED is keen to support consumers' rights and make sure that stores are abiding by the rules and regulations in that matter," he added.

This campaign may be welcomed by the United Arab State's many visitors, whose numbers are rapidly growing, according to figures from Dubai International Airport this week.

According to the hub, it saw a 10.7 per cent rise in travellers from the UK in August 2009 compared to the previous month.
