New cruise terminal could encourage holidays to DubaiMore Brits could be persuaded to book holidays to Dubai when a new cruise terminal opens in the emirate next month.

The facility, located in the Port Rashid complex, is set to provide a boost to Dubai's cruise tourism sector, with the terminal building based on Dubai's modern Arabic design.

It is easily accessible thanks to the number of cheap flights to Dubai on offer, with the terminal hoping to reflect the emirate's "rich heritage" as a maritime hub.

According to Dubai Tourism & Commerce, "special attention" has been paid to the terminal's interior and exterior, with the building featuring traditional Arabic domes, carvings and arches.

Once it opens, the terminal will be able to handle four ships at any one time, allowing it to cater for the expected increase in demand for cruise holidays from Dubai.

Specifically targeted at tourists, it will have money exchange facilities, a duty free shop and a business centre with internet access.

Dubai is now home to the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa tower, which has an observation deck on the 124th floor.
