People booking holidays to Dubai may be interested to hear the opinion of one travel expert, who advised that the emirate can still offer traditional experiences despite its modern developments.

Holidays to Dubai offer tradition alongside modernisation

Traditional life and modern culture meet in Dubai, according to one expert from the travel industry.

Nikki Hain, product manager for the Middle East, Indochina and Indian Ocean at Premier Holidays, commented that tourists taking holidays to Dubai can find traditional culture in the emirate if they know where to look.

"The Old Creek area in Dubai is still very traditional with souks and trading Arabs across the creek," she explained.

Other customs that are still regularly practiced include falconry, dhow sailing, horse and camel racing, Ms Hain advised.

Alongside these traditional activities, there are also the modern developments, including the recently opened Burj Khalifa tower, which is the tallest building in the world, boasting 169 stories.

Data released by the Post Office Travel Services earlier this week has revealed that tourists visiting the emirate can get more for their money in the destination in 2010 than in the previous year.

According to the research, travellers will be able to exchange their pounds for 12.6 per cent more United Arab Emirates dirhams this January, compared with the same month in 2009.
