Holidaymakers 'seeking sun and value'

The popularity of holidays in Dubai is set to keep growing as travellers seek sun and value, experts have said.

The number of people booking holidays to Dubai is set to carry on growing as consumers look to enjoy some guaranteed sunshine on a budget.

That is according to the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) which has explained that, while the global travel industry is steadily emerging out of the recession, some destinations will 'turn the corner' faster than others.

In particular, those holiday destinations that already have a solid tourism infrastructure in place and that offer consumers the best value for money, such as Dubai, are tipped to experience the biggest rise in tourist interest over the coming months.

Ian Bradley, a spokesperson for AITA, said: “Most people will be looking for sun and for value. Places like North Africa and the Middle East will probably give you that.

"The usual hotspots are the ones that will probably turn the corner quickest," he added.

Meanwhile, travellers taking holidays to Dubai were given another boost recently as the Post Office named the emirate as one of the top destinations where tourists will have the most extra cash in their pockets thanks to a strengthening of the pound over the past 12 months.
