Al Maha one of Dubais best kept secretsAnyone who books flights to Dubai will probably be anticipating a relaxing break in the sunshine surrounded by a host of creature comforts.

One journalist recently recommended booking a stay at the Al Maha resort and spa, a hotel that has been frequented by stars such as George Clooney and David Beckham.

Writing in the Birmingham Post, Lisa Smith described the resort as "one of Dubai's most breathtaking and best-kept secrets".

She explained that the hotel is modelled on an ancient Bedouin settlement and located in the red sands of the desert approximately 40 minutes outside the city.

In addition to its luxury infinity pool and high-quality suites, it also offers a chance to glimpse some of the emirate's wildlife because it is situated in a national conservation area.

One of the highlights for Ms Smith was seeing the Arabian stallions which are bred and kept on the resort.

Guests can even choose to take one of the horses out for a ride through the red sand dunes with an experienced guide to ensure they get the best from the excursion.
