Experience Arabic treasures on a visit to DubaiAnyone who is travelling on flights to Dubai may want to find out more about the history of the emirate during their stay.

If this is the case, they could be advised to book a few nights in the Al Maha Desert Resort, which is home to one of the United Arab Emirate's biggest private collections of antiques, artworks and artefacts from the area.

People who visit the resort will be greeted by "a unique collection of over 2,000 authentic Arabic treasures".

Al Maha Desert Resort is celebrating its tenth anniversary and is located in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (DDCR).

Eco Luxury, a company offering environmentally-friendly breaks, praised the destination, commenting that it has "been instrumental in creating the conservation reserve within which it is set".

The DDCR was developed to protect Dubai's last unspoiled desert, as well as safeguarding traditional Arabian ways of life.

A rehabilitation programme to reintroduce plants and animals to the area was started in 1999 by the Al Maha resort and efforts continue to protect the local ecosystem.
