Dubai's hospitality industry has seen positive results in the run-up to Christmas, according to industry figures.

Dubai's hospitality industry has seen positive results in the run-up to Christmas, according to industry figures.

In particular, the state's hotels have seen increasing occupancy rates over the past six to eight weeks and this could continue into 2011 as more people take flights to Dubai.

"Yes, we believe they are going to hold - all indications are pointing towards the positive and we can hope that the worst is behind us at this stage," said Raki Phillips, the Middle East area director of sales and marketing, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.

He added that the increase of more low-cost airlines offering flights to Dubai has helped to make the destination appeal to both corporate and leisure travellers.

According to Gulf News, occupancy levels have risen above the 80 per cent mark and could top more than 90 per cent during the holiday season.

Recent figures show that Dubai International Airport handled more than four million passengers during October.
