Tiger Woods fans could be tempted to take flights to Dubai to win the chance to play alongside him in a special tournament.

Tiger Woods fans could be tempted to take flights to Dubai to win the chance to play alongside him in a special tournament.

The Dubai Desert Classic in February is inviting anyone with a valid handicap to enter a competition that could result in them being part of the famous golfer's four-player team.

It is hoped the unique prize will help to promote the game of golf in general as well as spread the word about Dubai's developing courses and golfing facilities.

"The very intention behind having this online draw is to encourage amateurs to be part of the fun," explained Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice-chairman and chief executive of the company Golf in Dubai, which is managing the tournament.

He added that playing alongside the world-class player is the dream of every player and could help them improve their game significantly.

Meanwhile, Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood have confirmed they will compete in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship 2011.
