Emirates continues to expand in-flight mobileAirline Emirates has confirmed that it is set to register its five millionth user to its in-flight mobile service.

Launched in 2008 with AeroMobile, the service enables passengers to make phone calls while onboard flights to Dubai and other Emirates destinations.

At present, the in-flight mobile is used on more than 220 Emirates each day and has experienced a 38 per cent increase in use over the past 12 months.

Patrick Brannelly, Emirates' vice-president of corporate communications, said: "Reaching the five million user mark is a significant milestone for Emirates and showcases exactly how popular the service has become."

He added: "Use of wireless mobile communications is growing at an incredible speed across the world, taking over from the traditional wired methods."

Emirates operate a wide flight and recently introduced the Airbus A380 on ten services including flights to Dubai from London Heathrow.
