Djibouti Air commences flights to DubaiThe national carrier of Djibouti has started offering flights to Dubai.

Djibouti Air, which is owned by the Djibouti government and the UAE's Lootah Group, will operate six flights to Dubai per week from Djibouti.

Gulf News reported that the airline's chief executive Shabab Attarzadeh has already shown interest in increasing the fleet with a third Boeing 737 that will offer passengers the choice of business and economy class.

"Dubai is a very important market for us. We're connecting remote areas of Africa to Dubai, which in turn connects them to the rest of the world," said Mr Attarzadeh.

It is expected that the carrier could further increase its international flight timetable with services to Ethiopia, Somalia, Yemen and Kenya being launched before the end of 2011.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported Dubai's passenger terminal at the state's new airport is not expected to be fully operational until next year.
