Flights to Abu Dhabi appear to be more popular this year, as figures released by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) show that in February visitor numbers were up by 17 per cent annually.

Meanwhile, occupancy levels at hotels and villas were 16 per cent higher than during the same month in 2010, taking the average occupancy rate to 77 per cent.

Major international events held in the emirate state over the past 12 months include the IDEX international defence show, the Al Ain Aerobatic Show and Gourmet Abu Dhabi, ADTA added.

Furthermore the UAE capital remains a highly popular destination for travellers from the UK, with British visitor numbers up 29 per cent year-on-year.

The announcement comes on the same day that Abu Dhabi opened its third annual Yacht Show in Yas Marina.ADNFCR-1809-ID-800475531-ADNFCR
