Travellers flying into Dubai this summer will not have to undergo full-body scans, it has been announced.

Dubai airport rules out full-body scanners

The experience of catching flights to Dubai is likely to get more comfortable, after the UAE city's airport ruled out introducing full-body scanners.

Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, director-general of the Department of Airport Security told Emirates 24|7 that the airport was even considering easing some of its screening procedures.

He added that the airport would not consider using any devices that could case any ethical problems to travellers, including scanning and imaging devices.

Full-body scanners were met with great controversy when they were first rolled out in the UK at Manchester and Heathrow airports in February last year.

Dubai International Airport had considered introducing the machines, with more than 12 million passengers expected to pass through the transport hub this summer.

However, Mr bin Thani was keen to reassure sensitive travellers thinking of taking a holiday to Dubai.

"Dubai Airports is very keen on easing the procedures for the passengers," he said.
