Dubai Summer Surprises to boost visitor numbersAn increase in the number of people booking flights to Dubai is expected throughout the emirate's annual Summer Surprises entertainment and retail fiesta.

The festival, which kicked off at the start of last month and is set to run until July 31st, sees around 50 luxury shopping malls slashing their prices while staging a variety of family-focused activities.

According to Gulf News, a number of hospitality firms are expecting the event to provide a substantial boost to hotel occupancy rates in Dubai.

Joydeep Ghosh, director of sales and marketing at the Moevenpick Hotel Deira, is expecting more than 70 per cent of rooms to be booked up during the fiesta.

The Jumeirah Group's vice president of sales and marketing for Dubai Christian Pertl added the promotion will help to tackle the drop-off in visitor numbers that is often seen during the hottest months.

"Summer is traditionally a softer period for Jumeirah hotels in Dubai and we always develop special packages during that period," he remarked.
