Abu Dhabi to see 2m visitors this yearPeople travelling on flights to Abu Dhabi are helping the emirate to reach record visitor levels of two million during this year.

Figures from the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority showed that although the number of guests staying in accommodation dropped by five per cent in August compared with last year, it is likely that this seasonal dip was due to Ramadan.

In total, 116,492 people stay in hotels and guest houses in Abu Dhabi during the month of August, which accounted for 407,766 guest nights.

ADTA's strategy and policy director Lawrence Franklin explained that the rise in hotel stays was down to travellers spending longer breaks in the region, with food and beverage sales increasing too as guests took advantage of the special stalls set up for the religious festival.

An attraction which could interest those on flights to Abu Dhabi is the Second Hand Bazaar, which takes place each month at the Sheraton Hotel.
