The whole of Dubai is set to come out in force to offer its support to the runners of the marathon.

See the best athletes at the Dubai marathon

Travellers on flights to Dubai could find they are on the same plane as many athletes in the coming days as the Dubai marathon is to take place soon.

The Dubai Standard Chartered Marathon will be taking place in the emirate on January 27th and runs a clockwise route of the city, allowing the athletes to take in some of the most iconic sights during the gruelling run.

Beginning at the American University Dubai, the event ends at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, where the runners will be greeted by their supporters and offered much-needed refreshments.

People who want to take part but who feel a marathon may be a bit taxing for them also have the chance to take part in ten km and three km runs on the same date.

There could be many fashionable shoppers taking flights to Dubai at the moment, as the emirate is currently hosting a shopping festival and catwalk shows of the work of up and coming designers.
