Dubai plans new mega hotel to rival Las VegasPeople taking flights to Dubai in the future could have the chance to stay in a new huge hotel in the emirate after plans to construct the site were recently outlined.

The accommodation by the Al Habtoor Group would be the largest of its kind in the Middle East on completion, comprising of two skyscrapers that will rise from a five-storey podium base.

It will add an extra 1,600 hotel rooms to the emirate, even though the plans mean the existing Metropolitan hotel on the site will need to be demolished.

As well as creating new hotel rooms, the site will also see a spa and restaurants created, with one expected to achieve a Michelin star, as well as a shopping complex and sports facilities.

There will also be a theatre created to hold shows like those found in Las Vegas, offering a place for world-famous names to perform.

Some people taking flights to Dubai soon could find there are many athletes staying in their hotel, as the Dubai marathon is set to take place later this month.
