Egypt's winter sun holds 'great appeal'

A travel journalist has claimed that Egypt's winter climate is one of the great draws to the country, along with its eclectic offering of activities.

People booking holidays to Egypt will probably be pleased to know that temperatures in the country rarely dip below 38 degrees C during the British winter.

Writing for the Daily Mail, Helen Nicholson explained that this is one of the things that draws tourists to the increasingly popular holiday destination.

Describing her first impressions of Egypt and her accommodation at Makadi Palace, she said: "It's hard not to feel thoroughly relaxed at the vast terracotta-coloured complex that has sprung up in the desert."

Ms Nicholson advised travellers to take the time to explore outside the hotel as there are numerous exciting activities on offer for those with an adventurous side.

She selected a desert jeep safari which takes in a Bedouin camp in the wilderness as well as a break to watch the sun set over the rolling dunes.

Trips into Egypt's desert are an interesting alternative to lounging in the sun or water sports, a common pastime among tourists visiting the Red Sea.

Scuba diving is a particularly popular activity at many of the resorts along the coast, with divers able to take advantage of the clear, warm waters and watch varied marine life - from clown fish to sharks - that are resident on the reefs.
