The number of people choosing to take holidays to Egypt is set to grow, according to some of the latest travel research.

Holidays to Egypt expected to increase in popularity

An increase in the number of tourists booking holidays to Egypt is one of the travel trends for 2010, a new survey has revealed.

Research carried out on behalf of TUI Travel Adventures Companies found that mid-haul destinations, particularly Egypt and the Middle East, could experience growth of up to 81 per cent over the next three years.

The survey found that travellers are 190 per cent more likely to book an adventure holiday before 2013 than they were in the previous three years.

Egypt's Red Sea resorts of Sharm el Sheikh, Dahab and Hurghada could be the perfect option for holidaymakers who want to try their hand at new and adventurous sports.

Situated on the coastline, all three offer opportunities to indulge in water sports, from sailing and jet skiing to exploring the underwater world by learning to scuba dive.

Sharm el Sheikh is renowned as an affordable diving destination for British travellers, with a host of dive schools on hand to guide adventurers into the Red Sea's crystal waters.
