Cheap flights to Egypt are making the country more accessibleThe rising number of available flights to Egypt has made it easier for tourists to venture to the African country, one travel journalist has stated.

Simon Calder, travel editor at the Independent, commented that, although many of the routes are aimed at people simply seeking sun, sea and sand, there is nothing to stop adventurous travellers taking advantage of the cheap fares and exploring once they arrive.

"Any country has vast amounts to discover," he stated. "There is nothing to stop you getting a cheap package to Sharm el Sheikh and then going off to explore the wonders of the Sinai Peninsula."

According to research published by TUI earlier this month, mid-haul destinations such as Egypt and the Middle East could experience potential growth of 81 per cent over the next three years.

The company also found a strong trend emerging for adventure holidays, with 190 consumers more likely to take a trip in this sector by 2013 compared with the previous three years.
