Explore the White Med on holidays to EgyptThe area in Egypt known as the White Med, which runs from El Alamein to the Libyan border and Soloum, is becoming more popular with tourists, it has been asserted.

Khaled Ramy, director of the Egyptian State Tourist Office, explained that new resorts in the region are increasing its appeal to British holidaymakers.

He also noted that additional flights to Egypt from Gatwick and Manchester airports - which both last less than four hours - due to start later this year will make the region more accessible to UK tourists.

Mr Ramy pointed out that the White Med has a lot to offer: "Beautiful shores, crystal clear waters, leisure, water sports, relaxation plus culture."

El Alamein and Alexandria are also nearby, allowing travellers to discover the history of the region, he added.

Another option for people visiting the area is to take an overnight trip to Cairo, where holidaymakers can take in the Pyramids and culture of the capital before returning to the relaxing shores of the White Med.
