Follow in the footsteps of stars on holidays to CairoAnyone who has booked cheap flights to Cairo this year may be looking for somewhere special to stay.

In its series about the holiday spots frequented by celebrities, the Daily Mail suggested spending a couple of nights at the Mena House Oberol in the Egyptian capital.

Boasting views of the pyramids, the establishment has been attracting stars to its doors since it opened more than 100 years ago.

According to the newspaper, famous faces to have graced its rooms include Roger Moore, Agatha Christie, Frank Sinatra and Charlton Heston.

For anybody who does not have the budget to stay at the hotel, non-guests are allowed to visit the Sultan Lounge - one of its bars - where they can enjoy a cocktail and gaze out over the famous landmarks.

The Great Pyramid, which is the largest of the structures, stands at almost 150 metres in height and was constructed in approximately 2550 BC.
