Holidays to Egypt 'offer something radically different'

People booking holidays to Egypt will find that they can have a "radically different" experience, according to one travel expert.

Holidays to Egypt offer something radically differentAnyone who wants to jet off to an exotic destination but does not want a long journey should consider booking flights to Egypt, one tourism expert has advised.

Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, explained that many Middle Eastern countries are having a particularly strong pull among British holidaymakers.

He said that this is down to the attraction of taking a five or six hour flight to "be somewhere that is radically different, really interesting, [with a] brilliant history, wonderful people and fantastic food".

Mr Hall also pointed out that the perception that tourists need to fly for 12 hours or more to find an exotic destination is beginning to change and people are starting to realise that "it's all on our doorstep".

Research released earlier this month by sunshine.co.uk revealed that Egypt is among the destinations to see the biggest rise in popularity with British holidaymakers.

Other countries in the top five include Greece, the USA, Turkey and Portugal.
