Egypt could be the ideal destination for holidaymakers looking for a vacation that combines luxury accommodation with reasonable prices, claims the country's tourist board.

The Egyptian State Tourist Office has highlighted that the country offers value for money but still has a number of high-class resorts.

Khaled Ramy, director UK & Ireland of the Egyptian State Tourist Office, said: "Most of the hotels are four or five stars. Almost all of them have their own beach and state of the art facilities."

He added that Egypt also successfully manages to combine relaxation with culture, especially if tourists staying in beach resorts manage to ensure they book tours of the stunning monuments in Cairo or Luxor.

Recent research conducted by the Post Office Travel Money showed that people taking flights to Egypt could also benefit from the strength of sterling against the local Egyptian pound - making it one of the most attractive long-haul destinations in terms of exchange rates.
