'Business as usual' for Egypt resorts

Holiday resorts in Egypt are unaffected by the unstable political conditions, it has been claimed.

People booking flights to Egypt or those planning to visit the country in the coming weeks will not see much disruption.

That is according to the Egyptian State Tourist Office, which said that holiday resorts in the north African nation have not been affected by the recent political problems.

For the last week, Egypt has been in the grip of strikes, protests and demonstrations against the government.

President Hosni Mubarak has dissolved parliament and promised political reform, but Egyptians are calling on him to step down himself after being in power for three decades.

Nevertheless, Khaled Ramy, UK and Ireland director for the country's tourism agency, insists that the situation for tourists is stable.

"In Egypt's Red Sea resorts it's business as usual and they are bustling with holiday makers from all over the world," he revealed.

"And everyday more tourists are coming to Egypt's Red Sea cities of Sharm El Sheikh, Taba, Hurghada and Marsa Alam."
