Tourists remain 'confident' about Egypt

Many holidaymakers remain confidence in Egypt despite the recent political events, claims the Egyptian Tourist Authority (ETA).

Many holidaymakers remain confidence in Egypt despite the recent political events, claims the Egyptian Tourist Authority (ETA).

Tourism counsellor Ibrahim Khalil, speaking at a event in Australia, stressed that the majority of the African country remained unaffected by the events and that even those areas that were are returning to normal quickly, so there is little reason for people not to take flights to Egypt to enjoy a holiday there.

"Many tourists have continued and are continuing to holiday in the Red Sea areas and other parts of Egypt which is great and very much indicative of their confidence in the security and safety in Egypt," Mr Khalil told eTravel-Blackboard.

The ETA is hoping to attract at least 14.7 million visitors during 2011, the same level as in 2010 and the authority is also ready focusing on ways to boost tourism traffic in the coming months.

Meanwhile, the minister of antiquities affairs, Zahi Hawass has been confirmed that all of Egypt's leading tourist attractions have been reopened.
