Egypt is ready to welcome summer visitorsBritish holidaymakers looking for an exciting holiday this summer should not hesitate to book flights to Egypt, according to a worldwide tourism organisation.

Taleb Rifai, secretary-general of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation, gave this positive assessment after a recent visit to the country.

"Throughout my visit it has been very clear that the Egyptian tourism sector is fully operational and ready to receive visitors," he said.

His comments were echoed by David Scowsill, president of the World Travel and Tourism Council, who said that the country's tourist industry has "recovered quickly" and "visitors are now coming back".

"It is important for the industry to get a clear message out that the new Egypt is stable and open for business," he added.

Among the unique attractions on offer in Egypt, Brits can discover the historic Valley of the Kings, see the ancient Pyramids of Giza or try scuba diving in the popular holiday resort of Sharm El Sheikh.
