Longer holidays need better budgetingHolidaymakers lucky enough to be taking an extended break this year may wish to consider using travellers cheques as an alternative to cash, it has been suggested.

Research from the Association of British Travel Agents has discovered that more people are choosing to go on one long break rather than several small ones as the cost of flying escalates.

Tour operators predict that fortnight, three-week and even longer breaks could make a comeback as fuel prices force up the cost for travellers.

Kirstie Bayley, vice-president of American Express Travellers Cheques, said that Britons should manage their money more carefully in such cases.

"The last thing holidaymakers are going to want to worry about is looking after piles of cash.

"Purchasing travellers cheques before travelling can not only help holidaymakers stick to a budget and not overspend, they also provide added peace of mind as [they] are just like cash, but completely protected against loss or theft," she commented.

Recent research from the Centurion Luxury Living Index found that 66 per cent of holidaymakers seek destinations that are entirely private and secluded to take them away from the crowds, while 72 per cent are demanding bespoke, personalised experiences, catering exclusively for their needs.

Anyone looking for peace and tranquility could consider booking flights to India, home of the Muthanga National Park.
