Continental showcases new seat technologyGood news for people set to travel on business flights to Delhi or Mumbai next year - Continental Airlines has announced the details of a new seat designed to make flying more comfortable.

The new 180-degree lie-flat seat for the BusinessFirst cabin was unveiled at the National Business Travel Association International Convention and Exposition in Los Angeles and will be rolled out in autumn 2009.

The seats will feature two metres of sleeping space and 25 inches of width, making sleeping onboard more relaxing.

There will also be laptop power, headset and USB plugs built into the seat, as well as a privacy shell for seclusion from other passengers.

Larry Kellner, chairman and chief executive officer of Continental Airlines, said: "Continental continues to invest in its product to make flying more comfortable for our global customers.

"We created a brand-new seat designed to lie completely flat, without compromising functionality or effective use of cabin space."

Continental Airlines is based in Texas and is the fifth-largest airline in the world based on revenue passenger miles.
