New bus services to speed up travel in IndiaA set of luxury buses is to be rolled out across the Mumbai metropolitan region in a bid to make travel easier, it has been revealed.

According to the Times of India, 200 long-distance buses will be provided by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) for Dadar, Borivli, Thane, Vashi, Kalyan and Panvel as of October.

It is expected that this will make life easier for the suburban commuters, as well as for people travelling on holidays to India.

"Railway blocks due to maintenance work or floods will not inconvenience commuters, as our buses will assist them during difficult times,'' said MSRTC vice-chairman and managing director Om Prakash Gupta.

He added that fares would not be high, despite the luxury aspect of the buses.

Vashi is among the top ten most developed zones in the Mumbai Metropolitan area. It is popular for shopping, as it is home to four malls selling everything from furniture and fixtures to clothing and electronics.
