New runway opens to cover demand in IndiaA new runway has been inaugurated at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, it has been reported.

According to Business Week, it will be the country's longest runway and will open for commercial flights on August 28th, which could be good news for people going on flights to India.

Air traffic to India has increased in recent times, with 70 per cent of new demand for flights to Mumbai and Delhi.

This has meant that the airports have been stretched and planes are often forced to wait for long periods.

It is hoped the new runway will reduce this congestion, boosting the number of flights per hour from 30 to 60, MC Kishore of the Airports Authority of India told the newspaper.

Anyone looking for flights to India may wish to fly with carrier Air India, which has a worldwide network of passenger and cargo services. It offers a number of flights within India, as well as to destinations in Africa, Asia and Europe.
