Singapore Airlines to promote holidays to India

Singapore Airlines is to showcase the best India has to offer in a series of short films to be shown on its aircraft, it has been revealed.

The initiative will be part of a collaboration with the Indian Tourism Ministry and will be entitled Incredible India, officials said.

Short films will be seen on the carrier's 58 weekly services to eight Indian destinations and will show the country's diverse geography, heritage, culture and cuisine.

Leena Nanden, joint secretary of the ministry of tourism, said the scheme will help to attract tourists from all sectors.

"India has witnessed a phenomenal increase in the number of tourists in past few years. We attribute part of this increase to the Incredible India campaign and to the enhanced air connectivity to India," she commented.

It was reported earlier this month that Singapore Airlines has seen its number of passengers increase, despite the current economic climate.

The numbers carried on its flights rose by 3.6 per cent in July to 1.68 million when compared with the same period last year, the company said.
