Gulf Air has revealed details of a new programme designed to improve the company's approach to sustainability, it has been reported.

The airline's new corporate social responsibility plan will focus on climate change and clean air, waste management and community service, with goals to support them, AME Info reports.

It is hoped that the initiatives launched by the airline will improve the environment and benefit local communities, as well as improving efficiency within the company.

Tero Taskila, Gulf Air chief strategy officer, said: "We believe in offering the customer choice, as people become more environmentally and socially conscious we want to ensure that as an airline we meet these needs."

Gulf Air is the flag carrier of Bahrain and operates services to over 40 destinations.

These include flights to Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore in India, as well as Johannesburg in South Africa.

Its main base is Bahrain International Airport and the aircraft can be identified by the company's logo, a golden falcon.Meet the editors...
