Goa - a newly-discovered paradiseA woman who went on holidays to Goa frequently ten years ago has written about how much she enjoyed a recent return trip to the Indian destination.

Rosemary Behan, writing for the Telegraph, said she had been to the town of Vagator before, but was pleasantly surprised at how well it had stood the test of time and developed into a luxury resort.

She commented that she stayed in a hotel where traditional Ayurvedic massage is carried out and where guests can enjoy meals on an idyllic roof terrace.

"On the first morning, the sound of woodpeckers and cuckoos accompanied a dewy sunrise. I took breakfast on a terrace looking down over a canopy of tousled coconut palms to the sea," Ms Behan enthused.

For the remainder of her holidays, she added that she mostly spent the days wandering the quiet streets - along with a few sacred cows - and enjoying the sight of all the old buildings.

Goa is India's smallest state in terms of area, but handles 12 per cent of all foreign tourist arrivals in India, according to goenkar.com.Meet the editors...
